It involves conducting retail audits and looking outside your categories for packaging formats that have been commercialized in other product areas that could have relevance in your categories. For, example when the new Dutch Boy and Folgers plastic packages were introduced they were evaluated in many other areas and are now commercial in sugar, infant formula, etc. The nice thing about S&R is that these package formats are commercial and have already gone through the development rigors by others.
