Long-Term Supplier Research
Long-Term Supplier ResearchSM
It is usually expected that major packaging suppliers of a company dedicate a portion of their R&D resources to that company in proportion to the amount of business they receive from the end user company. Often this is spelled out in the purchase contract but even if not legal binding, it is a reasonable expectation of the end user company. The Supplier Long Term Research tool requires suppliers to use a certain percentage of those dedicated resources to do long term research investigating and developing new packaging technologies. An 80/20 split between short term and long term is usually a good split to work against. The projects to be undertaken can be selected by the supplier, the end user or both.
